CHRIS RICE | Me and Becky Lyrics

Becky has a house on Abundant Live Boulevard
A good name, good family, and butterflies in her yard
Becky loves Jesus and really wants to make Him proud
She tears up in church and she sings her harmonies loud
She's got a Bible by the bed, a prayer journal, and a fish on her car
She makes sure to bow her head and give thanks in every restaurant
But is that enough?

C'mon Becky, let's go for a ride
If I'm driving too fast then I apologize
But there's a world out there that we left behind
Full of souls as important as yours and mine
Looks like a reckless road, and a sacrifice
And I'm crazy scared it may cost our lives
But then I remember Jesus died
So c'mon Becky
Let's go for a ride

I'm rolling up to Becky's house on my Sunday drive
I have to laugh to myself 'cause it looks exactly like mine
I smile and wave at all the happy people strolling by
We've got the same walk, same talk, and the same sparkle in our eyes
'Cause we're thankful for the blessings, but maybe we could lay 'em aside
I get a feeling we might be missin' the time of our lives
So hop in and hold on tight

C'mon Becky, let's go for a ride
If I'm driving too fast then I apologize
But there's a world out there that we left behind
Full of souls as important as yours and mine
Looks like a reckless road, and a sacrifice
And I'm crazy scared it may cost our lives
But then I remember Jesus died
So c'mon Becky
Let's go for a ride

'Cause we're thankful for the blessings, but maybe we could lay 'em aside?
I get a feeling we might be heading for the time of our lives

So hop in and hold on tight
C'mon Becky, let's go for a ride
If I'm driving too fast then I apologize
But there's a world out there that we left behind
Full of souls as important as yours and mine
Looks like a reckless road, and a sacrifice
And I'm crazy scared it may cost our lives
But then I remember Jesus died
So c'mon Becky

NEMO

I have always wanted a flowerhorn
inspired by my few visits to
flowerhorn contests and exhibits before
And now, dandarandan, I have one already!
He may not have the qualities of
the champion line flowerhorns
the pearls and snake strips
the hump aka malapad na kok
the vivid red colors
the fan like fins
the short mouth
("malapad ang bibig niya o :()")

"wala man siya lahat nun"
I just like that he responds to me
yes, we are a team
His name is Nemo
Say hello

Nemo, hey, your food pellet is in the other corner, hey
I will add that, he may not be that wise
But he's now my NEMO!!!!
(like I can't do anything about it anymore haha)
"Go to sleep now!"
"Can't you close your eyes for a change!"

alright, the real Nemo is a clownfish
but the resemblance is there right?

PASIG

Huram's top 3 places for shopping - 1. Palengke ng Pasig on Saturdays - all the great finds are contained in a small space. 2. Divisoria - far but love its variety. 3. Megamall on Weekdays - near and affordable.

.from Palengke ng Pasig yesterday.
P05 - small towel
P10 - pair of socks
P25 - t-shirt
P50 - half pants (spandex)

Beat that.

REUSABILITY

Google reusability site:m-w.com
"nasa verb na nga - USE!, niREresearch mo pa, BUENAS"
Main Entry: re·us·able
Pronunciation: (")rE-'yü-z&-b&l
Function: adjective
: capable of being used again or repeatedly - re·us·abil·i·ty

a good reusability example
using PVC pipes as curtain rods

ask your favorite hardware store to
pre-cut the pipes to your desired length.

total cost: less than P300
(w P95/panel curtains from Mutya ng Pasig Market)

I'VE LEARNED

My background is in Web Programming - and it helps to know that the development cycle of web applications applies the same for makeover projects :0) Failures on past projects might haunt me back - so I will list the things that I've learned so far.

  • PRAY FOR THE PROJECT. - Know whom it is for!
  • KNOW YOUR RESOURCES (MAN, MATERIALS, METHODS, MACHINERY). - Work within a budget and stick with it!
  • BE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR CHEAPER SOURCES OF MATERIALS. - Canvass, canvass, canvass! (*for location, location, location - nah, that line is more for realtors - 3 secrets of buying a good property :0) )
  • IDENTIFY THE ITEMS TO BE INCLUDED. - It helps to set a matrix in order of priority: "URGENT, IMPORTANT", "URGENT, NOT IMPORTANT", "NOT URGENT, IMPORTANT", "NOT URGENT, NOT IMPORTANT" or the "NICE-TO-HAVES".
  • DEFINE A TIMETABLE. - Let it be SMART or even SMARTER! (SMART + exciting or ethical + recorded)
  • EXPECT FAILURES. - Aim for perfection, but expect minor imperfections. "Anything that can go wrong, will" :0) - Murphy's law is here to stay !!!
  • BE FLEXIBLE. - Because there is no such thing as perfect, be creative to make necessary changes, be flexible enough to adapt it. YAHOO - "you always have other options!" - and as they say in Perl - "there's more than one way to do it!"
  • ENSURE QUALITY. - Quality is not just the responsibility of those who will be in-charge of a particular task. It's everyone's responsibility. Convey your ideas. Convey your standards. Continously check for quality. Even talk about TQM as needed hehe. Pag naman gumamit ka pa ng SPC, exag na yan haha!
  • KEEP EVERYTHING SIMPLE. KISS! - Right from the planning stage, consider making everything simple for those who will be in-charge for that task. ex. Using a standard 4'x8' plywood measurement so that the carpenters won't have to cut anymore. It will also do wonders in lowering your material costs.
  • IDENTIFY DEPENDENCIES. - TEAM - "together everyone achieves more!" Delegate, delegate as needed. More particular in a church setting, ask others for help so they too can be proud of their contribution. But having too many delegates might also increase dependencies. You need to balance your purpose for the project - is your timeframe a big concern? do you want this project to provide a venue for team building?
  • REVIEW. - Regularly check the budget and the team's accomplishments.
  • LAST. - Listen, Advise, Solve, Thank. - foster a team environment - don't ever argue or threaten. Everybody can benefit from a Win-Win strategy. No MELVIN (Mediocrity, Ego, Limits, Vanity, Incompetence, Name-calling)! Don't forget your "THANK YOU"...Di ako bakla! este Di ako si Darna! - mapapansin kaya sa dame ng ‘yong ginagawa... more of the kamikazee lyrics here
  • just added 2 days after - 9/6/6 - BUILD WITHIN THE PREFERENCES AND CONVENIENCE OF YOUR TARGET USERS. - Common sense stuff - like for a church setting, minimize the use of color black - or for a church wedding, don't use dark green when their mottif is aqua green :0) Yes, it has to be built for their convenience too - don't let them figure anymore how things work - love the title of this book that we bought before in my previous company - DON'T MAKE ME THINK !

JOB - Just Over Broke,
Huram :)
09/04/06
hmm, personally, what i've learned today - i've learned that with God, i WILL ALWAYS BE fine. yea, this day was tough, both financially and emotionally - hehe. Huram is fine now. - corrected on being FINE '
Fanatical, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional' - we all are at times - 'Feelings Inside Not Expressed' - thank God, He wakes us up all the time - free us from traps - 'It's all about You, Jesus'. - time to cook - Huram is discovering another joy - Huram can now cook!!!

THE HEART OF WORSHIP

- after that long and tiring work yesterday -
( hmm, one of those many Saturdays )
( but we're halfway done! )
- Here's my Sunday -
- it brought me back to whom the hard toil is for -

"It's all about You Jesus"

- bring us back to You in our daily lives -
- not just in my Sunday worship O Lord -

- in my nightly prayers -
- I sometimes sleep even before saying "Amen" -
- in my devotion -
- I sometimes skip my readings -
- in my concerns -
- I sometimes work on it alone -

- in all of my daily tasks -
- Please bring me back to You -

- even in serving You -
- I am totally disconnected from the task -
- that You first commisioned to us -
- All that makes me busy -
- is just a part of a big passion -
- but is it really for You O Lord? -

- search my heart -
- determine my ways -
- push me to work on Your more important tasks instead -

- I want to be exposed in that very area -
- Show me how, show me the way -
- Lead me to the right people -
- Lead my every step -
- I AM HURAM AND I'M NOT EQUIPPED -
- prepare me for this bigger task ahead -

THE VOLUNTEERS

One thing I like most with makeovers
